These instructions will help you set up sales tax rates and apply them where applicable to the products and services you offer. Correct tax setup ensures accurate billing, compliance with local tax regulations, and simpler reporting for your business.

Before you proceed:
Ensure you have access to Settings โ Management โ Taxes within the software.
Confirm you have the authority to add, modify, or disable tax rates for your business.
Familiarize yourself with your local tax rules (region, classifications of products/services) so you enter rates correctly.

This section explains how to set up, edit, and manage sales tax rates in your DaySmart software. Youโll learn where to find tax settings, how to enable and name each rate, and how to apply them to products and services for accurate billing.

From the Cloud website, click More โ Settings.
โIn the sidebar under Management, select Taxes.
โAt the top, confirm your Region setting so tax calculation aligns with your location.
โClick Enable next to a tax item. Enter the Name and Rate. Repeat for other applicable taxes.
โAfter setup, you can Modify or Disable a tax at any time.
โWhen adding or editing a product or service, check the box next to each tax that applies. Existing items can be updated similarly.

The correct tax rate depends on your specific jurisdiction (state, county, city). You should review your local tax authorityโs guidelines or speak with your accountant to determine the correct rate. Once confirmed, enter the exact percentage in the tax setup screen.
How do I apply multiple taxes to one item?

Check all applicable tax boxes when editing the item. The software will apply each tax rate cumulatively during checkout.
Can I change a tax rate after items have been sold?

Note: This does not retroactively change existing transactions unless manually edited, if you need the rate changed on a closed ticket you will need to void and recreate the ticket after updating the sales tax rate.
Will disabling a tax remove it from items already sold?

No. Disabling a tax prevents it from applying to new items. Items sold previously that included that tax will not automatically update.
